Refund Policy

Total or Partial Withdrawal from the University

Per Semester or Trimester

 Partial Withdrawal -

 100% tuition cost (not including fees) for credits dropped before classes begin.

Total Withdrawal -

100% total registration cost (including fees) if the drop occurs before classes begin. 

Total or Partial Withdrawal -

75% tuition cost (not including fees) for credits dropped during the first week of classes. 

50% tuition cost (not including fees) for credits dropped during the second week of classes. 

THERE ARE NO REFUNDS AFTER THE SECOND WEEK OF CLASSES.

Per Summer Session 

Partial Withdrawal -

100% tuition cost (not including fees) for credits dropped before classes begin. 

Total Withdrawal -

100% total registration cost (including fees) if the drop occurs before classes begin. 

Total or Partial Withdrawal -

75% tuition cost (not including fees) for credits dropped during the first two days of classes.  

50% tuition cost (not including fees) for credits dropped during the third and fourth day of classes. 

THERE ARE NO REFUNDS AFTER THE FOURTH DAY

 The 100%, 75%, and 50% refunds are applicable only to students who paid their full registration costs in cash.  No refund is applicable to students who paid with financial aid.  These students must pay the University the remaining 25% during the first week (two days during summer sessions) and the remaining 50% during the second week (four days during summer sessions).  In addition, the amount of financial aid may be adjusted.

RULES AND REGULATIONS - RESIDENCE HALLS

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

1.        No drugs or alcohol are allowed on the premises of Inter American University. Possession, use, and/or storage of these articles is reason for immediate expulsion from the university.

2.        Residence halls are NOT coed. Visitors are not allowed in the rooms, these visits must be hosted in the lobby of the residence. Visiting hours are 9:00 am until 10:00 pm. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 9:00 am.

3.        Smoking in the rooms, inside or near buildings is prohibited. (PR Law #40).

4.        Curfew - Monday through Sunday at 2:00 am.

Residence halls are closed after 2:00 am. If you need to arrive later, Please inform the residence administrator before you leave; proper arrangements will be made so as to open the residence at your arrival.

5.        Postal boxes applications are enclosed. See fees below.

Costs:

            $35.00 per year

            $18.00 per semester

            ($2.00 fee for key, one time payment)

            Tax: 7% 

6.        You have to provide your shower curtain and cleaning materials. You are responsible for the cleanliness of your room. Keep it clean and tidy.

Regular inspections are done for cleanliness and organization. Remember you are sharing your room with other students. Rooms are inspected regularly, and if you don't pass the inspection you'll be fined.

7.        Key - There's a $50.00 fine for every key lost. You are not allowed to make copies of the key. Doing so is a violation of the Residence Regulation. A penalty will be applied for violators.

Mail Box Services

The San Germán Campus of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, provides postal services with mail boxes to receive mail for the students and personnel.  They are located at the Del Toro Building, near the Eunice White Harris dorm and at each one of the Students Residences:  Archilla Cabrera y Eunice White Harris.

    Process to Obtain Initially Mail Boxes Services:

 1. Visit the Dean of Administration Office.
 2. Complete all necessary documents.
 3. Bring copy of 2 ID cards such as Student ID, drivers license, electoral ID or passport.
 4. Go to  Bursar Office at the Student Center to pay for the service.
 5. Bring the receipt to the Dean of Administration Office to receive the keys of the mail box.

              

Costs: 

                    You can rent the mail boxes for periods of  6 months or  1 year:

                   6 months          -           $ 18.00                                                                       

                   1 year               -          $  35.00
                   Keys                -          $  2.00 e/a
                   Tax: 7%

Restrictions for the Service:

1.       The maximum capacity to receive correspondence in each mail box are for two persons.

2.       All student and personnel that wants to receive mail at the campus, needs to rent a mail boxUnder no circumstances, is it possible to receive personal mail at offices on campus.

3.       At the due month, you are going to receive a notice.  To continue the service, you have to pay during the month where the mail box is due.  All the dues mail boxes, are going to close in the next month and suspend the service.

If you don’t want to continue the service,   you are responsible to return all the keys to the Dean of Administration Office.

Process to Renovate the Service:

1.       When the mail box is due, you are going to receive a notice from the Dean of Administration Office.

2.       With the coupon at the bottom of the notice, you have to pay at the Bursar's Office located at the Student Center.

3.       Bring the receipt to the Dean of Administration Office to continue with the mail box service.
